That's all I've asked for as a fan.

Is Kelly over recruiting offense and neglecting defense somewhat for 2020 and 2021?

Right now no. 2020 they whiffed on top DBs but didn’t neglect it. They definitely had targets identified in their lower tier and got them. They must land a couple solid DBs in 2021. 2020 didn’t need any LBs but 2021 will but it’s still very early. DL they are good. The biggest thing to remember is talent attracts talent. Having such high level kids in the 2021 class and a great year going may bring some top 2020 kids around the next couple of months. And of course 2021 kids will see it too.

I am with Big here as well. They were after a ton of DBs in 2020 and simply got beat. It sucks, but it wasn't for a lack of effort. In fact, I think landing the 3 they did shows they were prepared to go after other guys when others chose different schools. Fwiw, I think Bartleson was always a plan A guy.

They also landed top targets like Botelho, AK, Mills and Ehrensberger. Regardless of ranking for AK and Ehrensberger, they were offered early and identified as the staff as top targets.

For 2021, they've landed a top option in Rubio as well and have offered some other top targets. LB is the main position they haven't pulled the trigger on some guys, but I suspect some offers are coming very soon.

Another board mentioned some conflict with our secondary coaches and opinions about the type of recruits we should go after. More specifically body type(taller DB's) vs natural ability who may be smaller. Don't know which is the answer, but hate to come up short on bodies at a position especially if a 4-5 star wants in but isn't tall enough.

Big, I am starting to think it is only a matter of time until Shipley commits. I don't if you have noticed this in the past, but when 247 starts pumping out a bunch of articles about a certain player it ends up being where they know he is committing soon or he is a silent. A lot of Shipley articles from the II staff out recently.

I have seen a little about this as well, but I am not 100% sure if it is accurate. A lot of it had to do with Clark Phillips and if they cooled on him. I have no reason to believe they didn't very much want him.

All and all, I do think they value length in general though - which is fine - but you have to land the kids then.

Yeah. Shipley's own quotes right after the visit and now are everything you could want to hear from NDs standpoint. As of today if feels like he is letting things settle to make sure he is 100% and focusing on finishing the season. Then he will finalize things. Unless he has a school closer to home that could potentially sway him, I would say he is NDs to lose right now.

I agree. Now let’s get some top 100 corners and linebackers.

Sorry if I missed it, but is there a general class breakdown by position for 2021? I know it is very early and things can change with leaving early, transfers etc.

I have guesses on the front page of this thread but it will change with guys leaving/staying and the finish of the 2020 class.
