Default Tony Dungy to Replace Doug Flutie on NBC

Tony Dungy will be the analyst alongside Mike Tirico this season, replacing Doug Flutie who will do the pregame.

I didn’t hate Flutie as much as many ND fans, but this is an obvious upgrade.

What? They couldn't find someone who went to Michigan?
I'm fine with this.

This is refreshing...no more of those BC buffoons. It’ll be interesting to hear Xs and Os. Mayock was particularly insufferable.

I didn’t think Mayock was bad at all, but Flutie really got on my nerves. There’s not a better person in all of football than Tony Dungy, happy to have in the booth.

Dungy has that sleepiness about him that I hope doesn't translate into him calling a game. BUT, I am completely for this hire!

Flutie has calmed down on the anti ND a lot, maybe the book effect? Who knows, but I'm glad he's gone.

I really liked Mike Mayock. I thought he brought attention to ND players.

I like Dungy. I really admire him and like him tremendously.

However, he needs to really do a much better job on the commentary than he did on the Duke game. That was painful at times and Tirico did an admirable job of picking up the slack for him.

He seemed a little rusty to me. Maybe the jump to the second game will help.

I liked Dungy. Its like the difference in style between Chris Berman and Vin Scully though.

Berman fills every minute with a huge personality.

Scully often made a big call and then was silent so the viewer could watch without distraction.

so it will come to your preference

I would rather have silence then listen to blow hard saying random nonsense that most announcers do. So I love Dungy.

I agree dungee is a bit laid back but geez it was refreshing not to listen to someone rooting against us on our network! So for me laid back was refreshing.

I enjoyed Dungy in there. It may be me being biased as he is a great man who I respect. I thought he was pretty biased with a lean towards the Irish.
