To be completely honest, I think the staff has known there was a good chance Stepp would not be apart of this class as far back as the Jahmir Smith commitment. I don't see them adding another RB unless an elite one contacts them and wants in.

I've been on the phil bandwagon longer than anyone. I love the kid. But i also seen that qb that's going to clemson and he looks better then phil f im being honest.

I can't call phil elite when i see someone a notch higher.

Also elite is not a word i use lightly.

I have mentioned before about us having some scale which clearly defines what each person means. Because how you describe an elite player could be different then myself and so we're essentially speaking different languages.

Jahmir smith sorta came out of nowhere iirc. Perhaps he was the back up plan.

This isnít my opinion, but just to throw out there who I think the staff would have on each tier. Tier 1 is elite, canít miss guys. These guys you make room for no matter what. Tier 2 is what most classes are filled with. These guys you want, but thereís likely a few guys you would definitely over them if you could. Tier 3 are your normal prospects with upside, but come with flaws. These guys are likely red-shirted or are what you would call underrated prospects and the staff likes them more than most other power 5 schools. Tier 4 are your prospects you go after after you really donít get the guys you want.

Tier 1: Jurkovec, Allen, Austin, Jayson Ademilola, Lamb, Simon

Tier 2: Bauer, Oghoufo, Dirksen, Takacs, Franklin, Justin Ademilola

Tier 3: Porter, Jones, Mabry, Smith, Moala, Wilkins

Tier 4: I donít believe the staff feels any of their guys are tier 4 prospects yet

Awesome! Thanks Vegas. I’m sure someone will find something wrong with this, but in the meanwhile, awesome way of visualizing the class

I'm not someone who automatically assumes when a kid de-commits it's because he couldn't make the grade, but I believe that's the case with Stepp. He was always a solid ND verbal and did a ton of recruiting for the class. I feel for him because I genuinely believe ND is where he wanted to be.

And neither am I. In the case with Stepp, it is well documented that academics were the ONLY reason he will not be in the class.

Looks like he will end up at USC, Purdue or Indiana.

His "Crystal Balls" are a riot...after Purdue, 100%, then off to Indiana, Boom! 100% then on to SC and yup, 100%! Where's he going next? I was hoping to see him in the B10 as he would immediately upgrade either school...plus the 3rd of option is just so...SC...

He should have changed his major to Grotto Management.

I think those are his top 3. I think a lot of people felt USC wasnít gonna be a realistic option for him, but many felt that USC was the biggest threat to ND earlier in the process. If he has a committal offer there, I bet he goes.

However, I think Purdue and/or Indiana are better options for him.

So you are saying that a major in landscape management is still in the works?

FWIW, Stepp may not be qualified to go anywhere right now. He has work to do to get into USC at the least.

I have an idea....can he get into Holy Cross? If so he can work on his education and then transfer to ND after first semester or first year.

I have no idea why ND doesn't do this........a lot.

This might be the whiskey talking but it seems to me that you could have also had some players declare transgender, go to St. Mary's to get their grades up, then transfer to ND.

Alabama used to have every other varsity sport stacked with 300 lb gymnasts, etc.

I'm sure most kids don't want to go to ND that bad when they can go to another bcs school.

Also imagine if they went to holy cross and a new coach came and didn't offer a scholarship.
