Well a big reason why Long is gone is because of not wanting to work with a stinker like Quinn.

Long is gone and Quinn is still here. Don't get your hopes up. The buddy system.

No to Rees, we are not BC. No more on the job training.

Is this really known? That Kelly would not allow Long to make staffing changes?

Might as well hire BVG back as a defensive analyst at this point lol.

You would think that Coordinators should be empowered to hire/fire coaches under them. Especially ones who are the opposite of the head coach's specialty.

But you are probably correct that it does not happen that much. That said, I do think that some Coordinators have some influence regarding staffing.

For example, I thought that Elko was able to bring Lea with him.

Ive heard of coaches bringing along coaches with them. Ive never heard of assistant coaches having the ability to fire other assistant coaches.

Hmm it's hard to take the risk but if Tom Rees could step in and succeed as an OC you might be surprised how well recruiting could go for him. At age 27 his relationship with recruits will be a huge positive, he can talk to them on so many different levels about what to expect at ND. Also this hinges on him succeeding in other OC duties, not just recruiting. Co-Oc with Taylor would be a good way to build a tremendous young staff.

Don't let your disdain for Tommy the QB overshadow his potential as an assistant coach and future HC.

Ive never been enamored with the offense. Whether it was actually Longs or BKs. Im not disappointed hes gone.

However, I think it is a huge mistake to promote Rees. All he knows is what hes learned from BK. All he will do is be a yes man and run whatever BK wants. Plus, with Quinn still on board and putting together another weak and ineffective O Line, I think it spells trouble for the offense.

Quinn will go to TE coach possibly with Long leaving.

Agree.... totally never works out... I mean Clemson certainly regrets it

(btw, I dont know whether or not he can do the job, nor am I advocating for or against it. Just stating that it does work)

It did take Dabo a few years to figure things out while he did indeed learn on the job.

2021 is the year that I see ND having a shot at the CFP. It would be nice to have an OC who is not learning on the job.

2020 will have Clemson at home, Southern Cal on the road, Wisconsin in Green Bay. Difficult to see ND winning all three games.

2022 will have away games at Southern Cal and Ohio St and a home game against Clemson.
