Default Everett Golson Pro Day

Look, I've moved on from him when he moved on from us.

But now he wants to maybe have a pro day at ND?

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports...222-story.html

It just doesn't sit well with me if this happens.

Can anyone see how this might benefit our school, rather than just Golson?

That's the question... did he move on from us or was he kindly made aware of BKs intentions...

He didn't fare well at FSU and I have a feeling he was asked to move on... ND is letting him have his pro day here to make up for that a bit.

Just my thoughts.

He wouldn't be the first guy to do this. I don't see any issue with it. I mean, he is a ND grad.

My thoughts exactly. He's an ND grad and we all know he saw the writing on the wall when was getting beat out. He went somewhere AFTER GRADUATING to play his last year to spark some NFL interest. I have no problem with it. He's an ND man.

Even if Kelly told him it would be in his best interest to move on.

I don't really care what Kelly told him or he told Kelly. This is a perfect way to show recruits the difference between ND and FSU and other schools like that. He stayed for 4 years, graduated and left. The place he left to won't even let him participate, but ND will. Show them that ND really cares about the kids while FSU and company just throw them to the curb once they've quit being useful.

There is absolutely no harm in allowing him to throw to Fuller and Brown, especially considering current players can't participate so Zaire and Kizer can't.

And that's great and all for ND, but I don't see it carrying over to elite players, other than ND the message will always support you. So commit to ND to have a sure thing and leave to another school after your season like Darby. ND is the proverbial best friend with a girl who will always be there for and probably be the best option for her, but she's always got her eye out for the hot guy.

Default Golson

Kelly was caught off guard when Golson left. That left him with one QB with experience.
Still, he was a ND player and I am glad that Kelly is letting him work out there.
And if he gets a contract, he will show up on the ND list of players and that always helps.

Ok ok !! I was ready to post something mean and you changed my mind. If ND is letting him come back for pro day I am fine with it. It's the right thing to do I guess

I'm on the fence here. On the one hand, he's an ND grad and did help ND to a title shot. On the other hand, he left/deserted his team for what he thought would be greener pastures and it probably didn't turn out as he expected.

On the other hand, it would probably be a good way of demonstrating "Once an ND grad, always an ND grad" isn't just talk and that's not a bad thing when it comes to recruiting.

The football fan in me says flip him the bird but the ND in general fan says take the high road and let him work out as long as everyone directly involved are okay with it. If the school, his former teammates and coaches don't have an issue with it, well they know him better than I do. They have an actual relationship with him, I just "know" him through a TV and the internet.

Having listened to all the back and forth, I think I am now OK with it. It has the potential to be used to our benefit, showing that we are serious about the 40 year option, particularly with respect to grads.

It insulates us from looking hypocritical, with opposing coaches saying, "Oh they tell you they'll support you after you play football for them, but they turned their backs on Golson, a graduate."

Not saying I'm happy, but I think it has the potential to benefit the program, if only to protect against negative recruiting.

He obviously wasn't perfect, but he completed his degree and did help the football program while he was there. I think it's very big of them to let him do this and am all for it.

He saved me a year and a half from watching Tommy Rees at the helm. Good enough for me.

Which year was the half? I can only think of a year, which was 2012

such a good leader, he crumbles when we makes a mistake

he only had 3 INTs last year because Jimbo basically leaned on Dalvin Cook the entire time...whenever I tuned in to an FSU game to watch how Golson was doing, all I saw was him handing it off to Cook

Yes that was the year. I was thinking Tommy can in about the season that year. I had to look back. It wasn't as much as I remembered/thought. More like a season and three quarters of no Tommy . He had some late game problems that Tommy had to clean up in 2012.

Revisionist history. I like the fact the ND comes out looking better than him in this entire scenario. He did graduate and he knew he was gonna sit. He didn't need Kelly to tell him anything for the reality to be evident. It doesn't really matter what he does on his Pro Day. Undrafted.

ND grad, 'nough said, of course he is welcome.

Interesting question tho': is he getting a graduate degree from FSU?
