ND vs OSU in Fiesta Bowl

Sure we might get beat , then we could get beat by Houston or Iowa just as well....

What we wanted is the BEST NON PLAYOFF BOWL---and none of the others come close to this...in fact this is as GLOSSY a MATCH UP as any of the playoff games....

Really something GREAT to look forward to.....

Yeah that's mainly because they don't pass the ball too often and they can usually run the ball at will on opponents.

I have no faith in BVG's stupid defense, as long as he has Joe Schmidt out there covering slots and all our db's confused they will expose us. They have the weapons and can throw when they want.

We all saw what Matt Johns and Virginia did to a healthy ND secondary I can only imagine what Urbie will come up with in a month. Hate to seem pessimistic but this will be the tipping point for BVG.

I can see a win but Kizer will need to play lights out.

Completely agree, if there was a top flight spread team out there that's what would just completely expose our secondary weakness. Ohio state is a run first team and that doesn't scare me nearly as much. With Onawalu and Jones coming back that'll help out big time too

I hope the team goes in to this game EXPECTING to win. We need the to take the field believing they are the better team. Do they have anybody that can cover Will? I hope we make them prove that they do.

Our defense?....well, I wish them luck. The brain trust better collaborate on this one and have a master plan. I guess we'll get a heavy dose of Elliot/Barrett.

I think i saw OSU @ 59% chance of winning. Kinda don't care for being the underdog

He said BVG, not Kelly.

I agree with your concerns to a degree about ND being able to attract the best coaches though. The frozen 5 and Golson certainly didn't help.

Saban would and could build an offense like he has at alabama. It plays into the strength of where nd can recruit, linemen, tight end, qb, running back and wide outs. He would have a tougher time with defense. They have a different mentality and it isn't very academic unfortunately.

I want to beat OSU sooooo badly. We haven't beaten them in at least the past three times we've played, H&H in 90's and '05. Hopefully we won't have anymore drama about someone's sister having trouble deciding alligences and wearing ridiculous split jerseys and the like.

Unlike many on this site, I can promise the kids are fired up for and believe they will win. One thing our team does not lack is confidence.
Will be interesting to see the approach the staff takes in prep. Often it's used as a way to get some younger kids looks for next season but with a marquis like this? Hpe they game plan like its the regular season, 1's vs 1's in practice, pads on! GO IRISH!

He is BETTER than Saban and Saban took Brian Kelly's lunch money, pushed him into a mud puddle and made fun of his mom in 2012... That 2012 beating was epic and across the board. The defense that year had played solid all year long and in that game they looked like a high school team - 2 steps out of position and missing tackles all night long. The offense was inept, the defense overwhelmed and the special teams anything but "special".

This Fiesta Bowl is set up to be the latest crapstone for a 10-1 Notre Dame season.
2002, 2006, and now 2015.
All 10-1 starts.
All regular season losses in California on the final weekend.
All overmatched bowl games.

All 10-3 finishes?

I want to believe that this team will be different that the '02 and '06 teams, but there are glaring holes in the defense, inconsistencies in the red zone offense and enough talent on the other sideline to take a Wake or BC-like performance and turn it into a national TV massacre on New Year's Morning...something that the ND haters would love as a salve for their hangovers...

I will say this, if CBK can get this win, I will be done doubting him for the rest of his stay at ND. If he gets pounded again though, I will be convinced that he will never win a title at ND and it would be best for all parties if he went on to an NFL gig after the game...

I'm kind of concerned about our team being up for the game. Kelly said there was no outburst of enthusiasm when it was announced. I'd rather Notre Dame decline a bowl game if the team can't get excited for the Fiesta Bowl. In fact, I'd bet money that ND vs OSU will have higher ratings than the playoff games.

Hard to know what to make of that. One thing about Kelly's teams at ND for the most part is that they are a pretty even keel group. I've always wanted to see a more fiery bunch, and even when I've thought they weren't particularly "up" for a game, they came out and played well. So maybe it's a business-like approach rather than a "who cares" response.

My reaction to this game is ugh...This is the one team I did not want....other than bama.
With that being said, it could be a good inclination of where this Irish team stands. I know osu didn't impress that much during the year but they are still ultra talented with an elite coach....
