Tate Nichols Gonna Be a Star!

Anyone else feel like this kid is going to be something really special in a couple years? I think he has got the most upside from anyone actually on the current roster.. Have you watched his film ? He is a very very agile 6'7'' 270 pound kid. Which usually translates into premier left tackles . He hasn't played tackle yet, but he has all the tools to be BIG TIME. I think we got our own version of Seantrel Henderson here in a couple years..His feet are quick,he's a great athlete, he's got fast twitch muscles and long arms.. I'm telling you it wouldn't surprise me when its all said and done that this kid gets drafted higher than Matt James....Not that I think Matt isn't a terrific ball player in his own, but this kid is going to be a premier Left Tackle mark my words......I'm starting to really like what I have seen out of Kelly and how he just finds talent out of nowhere....

lol--thats the truth-- here's more SJ--- Tate Nichols when kelly started recruiting him he was 6'6 242 pounds--- on his official visit in january the staff put him on the scale and he is now--6'7 292 pounds--- the kid is going to be a monster---he is a real good student and real smart kid--- kelly says he loves this kind of player , he was a TE and a giant WR in HS-Good Fett-- Good blocker at the TE spot-- really finishes blocks well according to Kelly "ONE THING WE REALLY LIKE ABOUT THIS GUY< A GUY OF HIS SIZE THAT KEEPS HIS FEET MOVING ABD FINISHES BLOCKS___

Kelly i think really belives he found a gem of POTETIAL TACKLE00 i agree with clover--- underrated players of this class for me-- UTUPO & NICHOLS___ALOHA's

I haven't watched his film so I can't comment about that but I have always been a big fan of guys that played TE in HS moving to tackle for exactly the reasons Clover mentions. They very often have much quicker feet then guys that have played OL their entire lives. The really encouraging thing about Nichols is that he already has the size for the position. I'm sure he will need some time in the weight room to get college level strength but overall, I'm really looking forward to seeing how quickly he progresses.

good call nd_clover! have to agree here....moreover, what intrigued me about him was his comment that his decision was sealed following a visit to the nd chapel. imo, athletes who are strong internally, usually have an added ability to demonstrate this passion outwardly....nate should do quite well (i agree that he may very well turn out to be version of seantrel....nice video.) go team!

I pointed this out when we first got the committment and I got hammered a bit. Since
he has tight end skills and is mushrooming in size seems to indicate we have an
exceptional find. I certainly agree with Clover.
